SANIP Certificate of Stable Yard Skills – Stage One
Entrance Requirements:
The minimum age that this assessment may be taken is the year the candidate turns 16 years of age. For applicants under the age of 18, permission must be obtained and confirmed in writing by the legal guardian.
Information:
The minimum pass rate for all subjects in this module is 70%.
Candidates will be assessed orally on their safe, practical application of knowledge with explanation. Candidates are reminded that appropriate head gear must be worn when working with the horses at an assessment. Please remember to have your own string and not baling twine (plastic derivatives included), with you as required for tying up a horse using a quick release knot.
Each topic will be examined in 20 minute exam sessions.

Fit a stable / outdoor blanket. Safely remove horse clothing. |

Identify, name and assemble parts of the snaffle bridle and ancillary equipment in common use including; running, standing, bib & Irish martingales; Flash, crank, dropped and cavesson nosebands. Identify parts of the saddle. (Compulsory) |
