MODULE 7: PROFESSIONAL EQUESTRIAN COACH (L3)
SANIP Certificate – International Level Three Coach

Entrance Requirements:
• Successful completion of Modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6.
• The minimum age that this assessment may be taken is 22 years.
• Evidence of having logged at least 200 hours of lessons taught of your nominated competition discipline/s, to the date of the assessment. This logbook must be forwarded to the relevant regional representative at the time of your application and at least
one month prior to the date of examination.
• Evidence of having logged at least 100 hours of personal riding of each of your nominated discipline/s to the date of the assessment. This logbook must be forwarded to the relevant regional representative at the time of your application and at least
one month prior to the date of examination.
• Evidence from your discipline/s and your pupils’ competition achievements.

Information:
The minimum pass rate for all subjects in this module is 75%
For certification of this qualification candidates must be in possession of a current recognised Level One First Aid Certificate.

GENERAL EQUESTRIAN KNOWLEDGE LEVEL 3 (Oral) 
This examination is structured as a discussion with a panel of one or more examiners, covering a variety of horsemanship and horsemastership subjects and scenarios. Professional and comprehensive responses will be expected of the candidate.

CONFORMATION & UNSOUNDNESS (Practical)
Candidates must have a comprehensive knowledge of this subject, at an advanced and technical level. Candidates will be expected to show a thorough understanding of this subject and will be required to demonstrate the ability to source, assess and select horses for competition purposes.

RIDING LEVEL 3 (Practical riding of known and unknown horses)

Dressage Candidates will be required to ride a trained horse up to Medium dressage level, and must demonstrate more advanced work, e.g. Half-pass, single Flying changes etc. Show-jumping Candidates must jump a course of show jumping fences at a height of 1,2m including a treble combination. PRACTICAL COACHING

Candidates’ are assessed on one or more of the Disciplines in which they wish to be accredited as level three coaches. Demonstration of an understanding of advanced training issues in the nominated discipline/s is expected.
For each Discipline that is nominated, the candidate will be examined on his/her practical teaching of the Discipline/s at higher competition level.

COMMUNICATION AND THE PRINCIPLES OF COACHING (Written)

This subject will be examined by way of a written paper. Candidates will be required to demonstrate their ability to design an applicable training schedule for a competition rider.
